Location

Northeastern Kodiak Island, including the area on the south side of Ugak Bay and east half of the Shearwater Peninsula. Bays and harbors in this area include: Eagle Harbor, Boulder Bay, Santa Flavia Bay, and Shearwater Bay. See area map (Image file 85 kB).

Topography and Habitat

Steep sided alder and grass covered hillsides surround several drainages in this area, from sea level to 2302'. The major drainages also have flat meadows that are covered with willow and grass. Boulder strewn beaches below steep sea cliffs make up most of the shoreline in areas not adjacent to river mouths.

Land Ownership

Lands around the head of Shearwater Bay extending down to the northeast side of Santa Flavia Bay are owned by Old Harbor Native Corporation with some private holdings, and the State of Alaska manages the surrounding areas.
