Research — Subsistence Fishing
Alaska Department of Fish and Game Divisions of Commercial Fisheries, Subsistence, and Sport Fish publish annual management reports for subsistence fisheries in the Kodiak Management Area. Technical papers and annual management reports are available to the public. The Division of Subsistence has also conducted several systematic and comprehensive household surveys in various Kodiak Island Borough communities in order to better document subsistence fishing practices and yearly harvest amounts. Results, including harvest estimates for freshwater and marine species for multiple years, are available in the Division of Subsistence’s Community Subsistence Information System (CSIS), and in a number of technical papers produced by the division. Both resources can be accessed through the data and reports tab.
