Some State Game Refuges and Critical Habitat Areas have changed!

The boundaries of Cape Newenham SGR, Izembek SGR, Palmer Hay Flats SGR, Port Moller CHA, Egegik CHA, Pilot Point CHA, Fox River Flats CHA, and Kachemak Bay CHA have been updated by the passage of Senate Bill 230 Alaska State Legislature as of June 5, 2026. 

New maps of the boundaries will be posted as soon as possible, please check back for updates.

A component of the first Ramsar List site in the United States

Located on the northern shore of the Alaska Peninsula, near the community of Cold Bay and adjacent to the Izembek National Wildlife Refuge, Izembek State Game Refuge supports one of the largest eelgrass beds in the world and annually hosts millions of waterfowl and shorebirds on their way to and from nesting grounds to the north. The State Game Refuge extends beyond the barrier islands into the Bering Sea.
