Special Area Regulations
Critical Habitat Area Regulations
Critical Habitat Areas are established by the State Legislature (AS 16.20.500) to “protect and preserve habitat areas especially crucial to the perpetuation of fish and wildlife, and to restrict all other uses not compatible with the primary purpose.” Permits are required from the Habitat Division for any habitat altering activity (AS 16.20.520-530) or any activity which disturbs fish or wildlife other than lawful hunting, trapping and fishing. Please see individual area management plans and contact the Habitat Division with any questions.
