Cook Inlet Area
Each year the Division of Subsistence publishes an annual technical paper documenting the subsistence harvest of salmon. These reports are comprised of data from subsistence fishers returning their permits to the Department of Fish and Game. The data gathered from subsistence permits is instrumental in fisheries management in Cook Inlet as it provides the data to set the amount necessary for subsistence, or the amount necessary for subsistence (ANS). Subsistence fishers returning permits also report issues and concerns they may have regarding the management of the salmon fishery. In addition in recent years studies on the subsistence harvest of rockfish, halibut, and shellfish have occurred. All of these reports as well as the harvest data are available to the public through the data and reports tab.
