Regulations
for the Yakutat area and the rest of the state can be found online via the link below "fishing regulations", or hard copies can be obtained at most local tackle and outdoor stores in Alaska.

Freshwater

  • Coho angling on the Lost River was productive last week during high water spells
  • High water conditions across the Forelands continued on into this week but appear to be waning
  • Fishing for coho has been a little more productive on the East Side streams
  • River flows should be good by mid week
  • Many Dolly Varden are now up into smaller streams spawning so fishing for these fish in the bigger streams is slowing
  • Stream mouths in the bay are also producing some good coho action, but this will slow soon as the fish move up into the drainages to spawn
  • Tsiu River angling is still going strong but effort should begin to decline into early October as the weather gets rougher.

Saltwater

  • Salt water angling is beginning to slow down as most anglers are shifting to the last days of coho angling in rivers
  • A few coho were still being caught especially in the inner coves but most trolling success has slowed
  • Halibut angling is still productive but effort is low
  • Lingcod angling is still open until November 30
  • The lagoons in Yakutat Bay are still producing coho but many of these fish have moved up into spawning creeks
