Freshwater angling

 

  • Sockeye have moved in fair numbers into several streams on the forelands at East, Akwe and the Situk rivers
  • Situk river angling has gotten good up to the 9 mile bridge and a few fish are above that
  • Dolly Varden are abundant on all stretches of the Situk River
  • Trout angling in the upper reaches of the Situk River and in other small streams has been fair
  • A few early pink and chum salmon are also being seen in Yakutat area streams

Saltwater angling

 

  • Halibut angling has been very good this last week with some good weather to help out anglers
  • Rockfish and lingcod are also reportedly abundant in catches
  • Anglers in small boats have harvested some good halibut in Monty Bay
  • Larger boats have found good halibut angling out farther past Ocean Cape
  • Rockfish are especially abundant near Ocean Cape in mid water
  • Chinook angling is very slow
