Freshwater

 

  • Sockeye salmon numbers are falling off now to a few hundred per day in the Situk River
  • Pink salmon numbers are picking up in all foreland rivers
  • Dolly Varden have moved up into some smaller streams and are colored up for spawning
  • Coho run entry in some of the western streams like Tsiu River and streams near Icy Bay have begun normally
  • Coho are still few and far between in the Situk and other eastern streams but a few are being caught

Saltwater

 

  • A few coho are starting to show daily in salt water bag limits
  • King salmon numbers were also up a bit last week, remember to get a king stamp if you think you want to keep a king salmon.
  • Halibut and lingcod numbers are still good and some larger halibut over 125 lbs came in last week
  • Black rockfish numbers remain stable in catches along with some good sized yelloweye
  • Pink salmon are abundant now in some local area lagoons, like Ankau, and the Sawmill Cove area
