Freshwater

 

  • Sockeye salmon numbers have begun to fall off a bit in all Foreland streams
  • Water levels hit high marks at mid week due to a much needed rain storm
  • Pink salmon numbers are just starting up, a bit late this year
  • A coho or two are also being caught in the lower Situk River and the Lost River
  • Dolly Varden are still very abundant this year in all Foreland streams, and these fish are now beginning to change into their spawning colors for fall
  • All angling for Chinook salmon remains closed on the Situk River


Saltwater

 

  • Coho salmon catches are starting up early in the Yakutat area waters of Yakutat Bay and Monti Bay
  • Coho are troll caught out in open waters, and can be shore casted near stream mouths
  • Ankau Lagoon has also begun to show a few coho salmon at the bridge area
  • Halibut angling is good in all Yakutat area waters
  • Lingcod angling remains open until November 30 and has been very productive recently along with angling for rockfish and other groundfish
