Wildlife Viewing Permit Information

Most areas of the state do not require a permit to view wildlife with the exception of several refuges and/or wildlife sanctuaries where it’s important to regulate the number of visitors. Three areas managed by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game require permits for wildlife viewing: McNeil River State Game Sanctuary, Pack Creek/Stan Price State Wildlife Sanctuary, and Round Island/ Walrus Islands State Game Sanctuary.
