Freshwater

 

  • Coho run entry on the Tsiu River has started in earnest and angling is reportedly very good
  • High water on the western streams near Yakutaga has hampered access to those waters
  • Coho run entry on the Situk is in full swing
  • Fishing for coho is good or better up to mid river and pinks are throughout the system
  • High water late this week may slow the Situk angling a bit till the water subsides
  • Coho run entry on the eastern side of The Forelands has yet to get real stroing but should improve by early-mid next week

Saltwater

 

  • Coho angling in salt water has improved to very good
  • Trollers are getting limits of coho on most days
  • Coho salmon are also entering Ankau Lagoon on the high tides
  • Halibut anglers are also getting limits during the better weather spells
  • Anglers who target rockfish are finding good catches of blacks, and a mixture of non pelagic species
  • The smaller lagoons in Yakutat Bay have yet to produce many coho
