Freshwater

 

  • Sockeye salmon numbers in the Situk River are running about average for this time of year.
  • Low and seasonally warm water flows on the Situk, and all foreland streams have slowed the incoming sockeye runs
  • Dolly Varden are reportedly very abundant in all foreland streams
  • Pink salmon numbers are beginning to pick up on the Situk River
  • A few late steelhead are still being caught in the Situk, anglers are reminded that steelhead must be greater than 36 inches for legal harvest
  • All angling for Chinook salmon is closed on the Situk River

Saltwater

 

  • Halibut angling remains good in all Yakutat area salt waters
  • A few early Coho salmon are being caught in Yakutat waters
  • Chinook angling is very slow
  • Lagoon waters of Ankau and Village Lagoon have produced a few pink salmon for shore anglers
  • Pink salmon are being caught in fair numbers out in open waters of Monti Bay
