Freshwater

  • Pink salmon are now abundant in several foreland streams
  • Coho salmon are starting to show up in the Situk River with each tide
  • There are still some fresh sockeye in the Situk River and the Dry Bay area
  • Situk anglers looking for sockeye are having good luck above the 9 mile bridge in areas of fast current where the pink salmon are less abundant
  • A few coho are being caught up in the Tsiu
  • Water conditions are high as of mid week but should drop by this weekend

Saltwater

  • Saltwater Chinook angling continues to amble along at a slow but consistent pace
  • For the most part marine anglers have switched to coho and are getting fair catches out in Yakutat Bay
  • Pink salmon are abundant in most Yakutat Bay coves
  • Coho are also starting to show up at stream mouths in Yakutat Bay along with the pinks
  • Ankau Lagoon has also produced a few coho and many pinks
  • Halibut angling remains strong but dogfish sharks moved in with the harsh weather and made finding a flatfish more difficult
