Ken's Pond Cabin

View of the cabin from the west.The Ken's Pond Cabin is located on the northeast shore of Ken's Pond, 23 miles south of Delta Junction in the foothills of the Alaska Range. Ken's Pond is approximately 6 acres and is stocked by ADF&G with rainbow trout, Arctic char, and lake trout. For more lake information, please visit the Alaska Lake Database.

Amenities: Ken's Pond cabin sleeps four adults and is equipped with plywood bunks, benches, a table, wood stove, broom and dustpan, shovel, smoke/carbon monoxide detector, fire extinguisher, outdoor fire ring, picnic table, and nearby outhouse.

Directions: GPS Coordinates: Latitude: N 63.6819 Longitude: W 145.8240. The cabin is accessed from Coal Mine Road, located on the east side of the Richardson Highway at MP 242.1. Leaving from the highway, follow the unmaintained road 1.8 miles to the Y in the road and bear right. Continue another 3.3 miles (5.1 miles total) to the Ken's Pond sign at the top of the hill, turn right (west) and follow the ATV trail 0.3 miles down the hill to the cabin. The cabin is not visible from the road. Please be aware that the road is primitive, not maintained, and not typically passable by a highway vehicle without high ground clearance and 4-wheel drive. Vehicles exceeding 1,500 pounds may require a permit, please contact the Glennallen BLM office at 907-822-3217. No off roading, off road vehicle travel is restricted to designated routes on BLM managed land in this area when there is not sufficient snow cover. Please stay on existing trails when snow cover is insufficient to provide protection to the land and vegetation. Please consider parking at the pull-off along the Richardson Highway and continue by foot or ATV. Winter trail conditions can be extremely variable due to high winds causing drifting snow and exposed ground in some areas.

Special Notes: Pets are allowed but should be under your control, and you are responsible for cleaning up your pet waste. Be aware that unmarked traplines may be present along trails.Trap Safety for Pet Owners.

What to Bring: Cabin users should bring a sleeping bag and pad, food, cookware, dishes, utensils, cooking stove and fuel, matches, lighters, paper fire starters, first aid items, insect repellent, plastic trash bags, firewood (maximum length of 17 inches), flashlight, lantern, water or some way to purify water onsite, and 2 AA batteries for the smoke/carbon monoxide detector.
