Salmon alevin

2. Alevin

The fertilized eggs incubate in the gravel nest for several months until they hatch. The hatched eggs are called alevins, and they still have a big yolk sac for nutrition. The alevins stay in the gravel, and they don't feed until the yolk sac is absorbed.
