Freshwater Angling Update

Situk River- Sockeye salmon have moved into the Situk River in good numbers. Fish are up to 9 Mile Bridge. High water this week has spread them out in the lower river but fish are still holed up in the mid sections and up by 9 mile Bridge.

Dolly Varden are also very abundant now in the lower river.

A few Chinook are in the system but they have thinned out with the high water.

The river flow came up over 350 cfs and the water is turbid, but should be in good shape by friday and the weekend.

Foreland streams- Many of these streams received a lot of rain over the last few days. They should be fishable by Friday. Sockeye are in the East and Akwe systems as are Chinook.

Marine Angling

Halibut angling is very good right now. Only a few bad weather days this week have hampered anglers from achieving limits.

Black rockfish harvests have also been good this last week.

Chinook are still being caught by anglers spending some extra time looking for those fish. Chinook angling will still be good into late June, and will taper off into July.

Regulations require all chartered anglers to use a deepwater release device if they release non pelagic rockfish.
