Board of Game to Meet in Anchorage March 26 - 30, 2011

(Juneau) – The Alaska Board of Game will meet March 26-30 at the Coast International Inn in Anchorage. The board will consider proposed changes primarily to the Southcentral Region hunting and trapping regulations.

Proposals have been submitted by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Advisory Committees, and members of the general public seeking adjustments to hunting and trapping regulations in the Southcentral Region (Game Management Units 6, 7, 8, 14C, and 15). The board will address over 90 proposals that concern a number of issues including hunting and trapping seasons, bag limits, methods and means, permit conditions and procedures, salvage and sealing requirements, and restricted areas for hunting and trapping.

The board meeting will begin with staff reports, followed by oral public testimony on Saturday, March 26. Anyone wishing to testify before the board must sign up at the meeting site before 10:00 am Sunday, March 27. Public testimony will continue until everyone who has signed up has been given the opportunity to be heard. Deliberations on the proposals will follow public testimony and continue through the remainder of the meeting.

Written comments will be accepted on specific proposals up until the proposal is deliberated. Comments may be faxed to (907) 465-6094. For more detailed meeting information including the proposed regulatory changes, visit the Board of Game website at http://boardofgame.adfg.alaska.gov/
