Board of Game to Meet in Wasilla, March 4-10, 2011

(Juneau) – The Alaska Board of Game will meet March 4-10, at the Best Western Lake Lucille Inn in Wasilla. The board will consider proposed changes primarily to the Central / Southwest Region hunting and trapping regulations, along with statewide proposals and other topics.

Proposals have been submitted by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Advisory Committees, and members of the general public seeking adjustments to hunting and trapping regulations in the Central / Southwest Region (Game Management Units 9, 10, 11, 13, 14B, 14C, 16, and 17). The board will address nearly 150 proposals that concern a number of issues including hunting and trapping seasons, bag limits, methods and means, permit conditions and procedures, salvage and sealing requirements, and restricted areas for hunting and trapping.

The board meeting will begin with staff reports, followed by oral public testimony on Friday, March 4. Anyone wishing to testify before the board must sign up at the meeting site before 10:00 am Saturday, March 5. Public testimony will continue until everyone who has signed up has been given the opportunity to be heard. Deliberations on the proposals will follow public testimony and continue through the remainder of the meeting.

Written comments will be accepted on specific proposals up until the proposal is deliberated. Comments may be faxed to (907) 465-6094. For more detailed meeting information including the proposed regulatory changes, visit the Board of Game website at http://boardofgame.adfg.alaska.gov/ .
