Habitat Research

researchers standing in water with net The Alaska Department of Fish and Game preserves the health and viability of Alaska’s fish and wildlife populations by protecting the lands and waters these species depend upon for their survival and reproductive success. The Department conducts research on watersheds, active mining sites, fire-impacted woodlands, anadromous fish streams, and coastal and marine environments throughout Alaska in an effort to document and mitigate human-related impacts, changes in habitat, and species abundance.
