In some communities the tendency for black bears to get into pet food, bird food or garbage has been a serious management problem. Fish and Game has worked with communities and local groups and education efforts have shown success. These groups, like the Bear Necessities Coalition of Talkeetna and the Anchorage Bear Committee offer opportunities to get involved. For more information see: Living With Bears.
