Chum salmon enhancement in the Juneau area provides high densities of chum salmon along the road system. Both marine boat and shoreline anglers can experience high catch rates for this species from July through mid- August.

To catch chum salmon in the Juneau area, anglers typically troll small chum bugs that look like miniature hoochies in a variety of colors. Anglers fishing from shore will typically use medium-sized bright-colored spinners, spoons and flies.

Fishing near the hatchery release sites of Sheep Creek, Macaulay Hatchery and Amalga Harbor will increase the chances of hooking in to these large salmon.
