Requested Tracking Map
During the last 10 days we have received locations for 5 bearded seals, 2 ringed seals, and 9 spotted seals. One of these bearded seals, BS16-05-F (red square), is still located in the Beaufort Sea, along the coastline of northern Alaska, between Barrow and Kaktovik. One spotted seal, SS16-05-M, is located within the central Chukchi Sea. Two bearded, one ringed, and four spotted seals are located in the southern Chukchi and northern Bering seas. One ringed and four spotted seals are located in the southeast Bering Sea, south of Scammon Bay. The remaining two bearded seals are in Norton Sound, BS16-07-F (yellow square), and Anadyr Gulf (light green square). No clear satellite images were available from the NASA Rapid Response Network. Therefore, sea ice data are courtesy of the U.S. National Ice Center and dated 20 December (http://www.natice.noaa.gov/products/).
