Requested Tracking Map
During the last 10 days we have received locations for 6 bearded seals, 2 ringed seals, and 9 spotted seals. Only two tagged seals are north of the Bering Strait. Bearded seal BS16-05-F (red square) is still located in the Beaufort Sea, along the coastline of northern Alaska, northwest of Kaktovik and spotted seal SS16-01-F (orange circle) is located in Chukchi Sea, just north of the Bering Strait. The remaining seals are south of the Bering Strait and range, east to west, from Norton Sound to Anadyr Gulf, and south to Bristol Bay. Sea ice data are courtesy of the U.S. National Ice Center and dated 17 January (http://www.natice.noaa.gov/products/).
