Reporting Requirements

  • Successful Hunters
    • Report within 7 days of the kill. a) Complete a permit report online, by mail or in person to Tok ADF&G or b) provide your name, hunt number, permit number, sex of animal, and date of kill by phone to Tok ADF&G (907-883-2971) AND return permit report card.
    • Specimens Required: None
  • Unsuccessful Hunters
    Report by mail or in person within 15 days of season end.
  • Internet Reporting
    You may report online at http://www.hunt.alaska.gov

Hunting Conditions

Season:  Aug 1 - Aug 21.

Legal Animal:  One Caribou. Only one caribou per lifetime allowed for this hunt.

Specimens Required:  None

Hunt Area:  The hunt area includes Fortymile Caribou Hunt Management Zones 1 and 3, within the Fortymile Caribou Hunt Area. You may hunt in both of these zones under this hunt.

Requirements:

- Each permittee must be accompanied in the field by a licensed Alaska resident adult at least 21 years old. For nonresident youth hunters, the accompanying resident adult must be a parent, stepparent, or legal guardian.

- Harvest under this hunt counts against the bag limit of BOTH the permittee and the accompanying adult.

- The accompanying adult does not have to possess a caribou permit or harvest ticket for this hunt, but the adults name and hunting license number must be included on the YC831 Harvest Report when submitted. This will serve as a harvest report for the adult. Again harvest under this hunt counts against the adults annual bag limit. Contact Tok ADF&G at (907) 883-2971 if you need further clarification.

- Only the youth hunter may harvest a caribou under this permit. However, the accompanying adult may assist with dispatching a wounded caribou.

- Permittees and accompanying adults must wear hunter orange vests. 

- Hunter education is REQUIRED for the youth hunter.  Additional hunter education requirements may apply for the accompanying adult.
