Hunting Conditions

Season: Oct. 1 - Nov. 30 and Feb. 1 - Mar. 31
HUNTERS WILL BE ASSIGNED, by order drawn, a 30-day hunt period in both the fall and spring seasons totaling 60 days of hunting opportunity.
Weapons-restrictions apply. Hunters must either attend an orientation in person at ADF&G in Delta Junction of complete an online orientation and test to receive certification of orientation prior to hunting. Orientation is available at: http:\\www.adfg.alaska.gov/index.cfm?adfg=deltabison.main
Special restrictions apply on military lands. Contact Fort Wainwright for details. (907) 361-9686. Hunters must obtain permission from landowners to hunt on private land.
Additional Requirements and Information

HUNTERS WILL BE ASSIGNED A 30-DAY HUNT PERIOD IN EACH FALL AND SPRING SEASON (total of 60 days) BETWEEN OCT 1 - NOV 30 and FEB 1 - MAR 31.
HUNTING DATES DETERMINED BY THE ORDER HUNTERS WERE DRAWN.
-Hunters must obtain permission from landowners to hunt on private land.
-Successful applicants must complete an online orientation or attend an in-person class at the Delta Area office prior to hunting.
-Legal weapons include conventional rifles and handguns, muzzleloading shoulder rifles, black powder cartridge rifles, bow and arrow, and cross bows. Conventional rifles/handguns must fire a minimum of a 175 grain bullet having a minimum of 2,800 ft/lb energy at the muzzle. -It is unlawful to shoot a bison that is wearing a Numbered Hi-Vis Orange colored Radio Collar.
-Equipment for ground-to-ground communication is permitted for locating bison in Unit 20D.
