Additional Requirements and Information
While hunting you must have in possession: a current hunting license, current brown bear tag, your copy of the Big Game Tag Record form, and the drawing permit card. Nonresidents who are U.S. citizens are required to hunt brown bears in Alaska with either a registered guide or an Alaskan resident 19 years of age or older who is a relative within the second degree of kindred. Nonresident aliens are required to hunt any big game species in Alaska with a registered guide.
Remember to report the outcome of your hunt. You must complete the hunt report attached to your permit even if you were unsuccessful, or did not hunt. Also, the hide and skull of all brown bears must be sealed within 30 days of take, and all bears must be sealed before they are transported out of Alaska; however, they do not have to be sealed within the Unit in which they were taken.
Hunt conditions and season dates can be changed by Emergency Order. Visit the Emergency Orders and Announcements page for more information.
