As the 2015 angling season begins to wind down fishing reports will be less frequent. Angling reports in winter for the Yakutat area typically focus on steelhead in the Situk River, and Chinook angling in salt waters of Yakutat Bay.

Steelhead Update

 

• Steelhead angling has improved this week as the Situk river water flows have come down a bit, but water temperatures are staying above average
• Road conditions are all good for now, but predicted snow falls this weekend could hinder road travel
• Angling for steelhead on the Situk River is still productive above the bridge at 9 mile, and some fresh fish have come into the middle sections of the river
