Marine fishing

Chinook salmon
trolling has been sporadic but productive if you put in the time. Trolling is still best inside the Islands and up on the east side of the bay near shore. Redfield and Sawmill coves are producing the most fish.

Halibut angling was slow and little effort occurred last week. Herring spawn started of heavy last Thursday. Halibut are likely spread out feasting on those fish.

Freshwater Fishing

Cutthroat trout
are still in local small streams and out in the Akwe and Italio Rivers. Dolly Varden have moved up into most streams feeding on salmon fry and also steelhead spawn

Steelhead Update

Steelhead angling on the Situk remains good to excellent. Spawning is beginning to max out, and some fish are heading down stream, but we are still at the run peak right now as some fresh fish are still entering in small schools with every tide. Fresh and spawning fish are spread out in the middle and upper sections of the river. The lower sections have the most fresh fish, but in lower numbers. Water flows are just now falling to normal so most new fish are not spending much time getting up to the middle river.
