November 12, 2015

As the 2015 angling season begins to wind down fishing reports will be less frequent. Angling reports in winter for the Yakutat area typically focus on steelhead in the Situk River, and Chinook angling in salt waters of Yakutat Bay.

  • Chinook angling in salt waters was fair last week when the weather was cool and calm

Steelhead Update

  • Steelhead angling was reportedly good early last week but became poor as the water rose with recent rains
  • Water conditions on the Situk are moderately high for flow for now; temperatures are good
  • Snow fell over the holiday on Veterans Day and the roads are slippery but passable
  • Most of the coho in the Situk River have begun to die off so that steelhead angling is easier, when the water drops
