Permits are issued by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G) for aquaculture, mariculture, habitat, and research activities. The Gene Conservation Lab assesses the risk of these activities to the genetic integrity of Alaska's wild populations of fish, shellfish, and aquatic plants. Permit recommendations are provided to the ADF&G Commissioner.
