Saltwater Fishing
King salmon are available around Prince of Wales year around, but catch rates will be slow during the fall and winter. Halibut, lingcod and rockfish fishing can still be productive. The lingcod sport fish season will be closed from December 1 to May 15, while sport fishing for halibut will be closed during January.
Freshwater Fishing
Fall and winter steelhead may be present in drainages that have lakes, such as the Klawock and Karta Rivers and Ratz and Eagle creeks. The following lakes and associated stream drainages should offer good trout and Dolly Varden fishing; Control, Klawock, Luck, and Red lakes as well as the Thorne River drainage.
