Additional Requirements and Information

  • HUNTERS WILL BE ASSIGNED SPECIFIC START DATES BETWEEN SEPT 24 AND NOV 15 (DETERMINED BY ORDER DRAWN) AND CAN HUNT FROM THEIR START DATE UNTIL THE END OF THE SEASON (MARCH 31).

    -Hunters must obtain permission from landowners to hunt on private land.
    -Successful applicants must complete an online orientation or attend an in-person class at the Delta Area office prior to hunting.
    -Legal weapons include conventional rifles and handguns, muzzleloading shoulder rifles, black powder cartridge rifles, bow and arrow, and cross bows. Conventional rifles/handguns must fire a minimum of a 175 grain bullet having a minimum of 2,800 ft/lb energy at the muzzle.     -It is unlawful to shoot a bison that is wearing a Numbered Hi-Vis Orange colored Radio Collar.
    -Equipment for ground-to-ground communication is permitted for locating bison in Unit 20D.
