Stikine River Salmon Studies

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G), in cooperation with the Canadian Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) and the Tahltan First Nation (TFN), will be continuing a king (Chinook) salmon research project on the Stikine River in 2006. The objectives of this project are to estimate how many wild king salmon spawn in the Stikine River drainage, what proportion spawn in the Little Tahltan River, how many smolts are produced by the fish that spawn, and harvest rates on this stock in various fisheries.
