Hunting Conditions

1) PERMIT AVAILABILITY: Only ONE muskox permit issued per household per year in Kaktovik and Nuiqsut beginning Oct 1.

2) WHEN: December 15 - March 31

3) WHERE: 26B, east of the Dalton Highway Corridor

4) BAG LIMIT: One (1) muskox

5) SPECIMENS REQUIRED: 5-inch section of lower jaw with front teeth to ADF&G in Fairbanks

6) REQUIREMENTS: Trophy destruction is required if the horns are transported out of Unit 26. For more information, call ADF&G in Fairbanks at 907-459-7206. Aircraft may NOT be used to transport muskox hunters, muskox, or muskox hunting gear. You may only kill one (1) muskox per regulatory year. If you have killed a muskox anywhere in Alaska during the current regulatory year, this permit is invalid. All hunters are encouraged to review the muskox hunting information on the ADF&G website at http://www.adfg.alaska.gov/index.cfm?adfg=muskoxhunting.main

You are required to have the following in your possession while hunting:
* Current hunting license
* Hunting permit

You are NOT required to have a metal locking tag for this subsistence permit.

7) REPORTING: Successful hunters must report by phone (907) 459-7272 or online. Unsuccessful hunters, and those who did not hunt may report online, by phone, or by mail.

8) WHO QUALIFIES: Alaska Residents.

9) PENALTY FOR FAILURE TO REPORT: If you fail to report, you will not be eligible to receive any permits (Drawing, Targeted, Tier II, or Registration, including Tier I Nelchina Caribou) during the next regulatory year. In addition, your name will be turned over to the Alaska Wildlife Troopers for enforcement action.
