Hunting Conditions

RM 573

1) SEASON DATES: Aug. 25 - Sept. 25

2) OPEN AREAS: Subunit 17A; Aircraft access will be restricted for two miles on either side of the Togiak River, Togiak Lake, Izavieknik River, Upper Togiak Lake (Second Lake), Ongivinuck River and along the lower five miles of both the Kemuk (also known as Narogurum) and Nayorurun (also known as Nagugun or Kashaiak) Rivers.

3) Bag Limit: One (1) bull moose

4) Reporting Requirements:
--Successful hunters must call the Dillingham office (907-842-2334) or Togiak Traditional Council (907-493-5003) to report the sex of the animal taken and mail the completed hunt report card within 5 days of taking a moose. Hunters may also complete the hunt report card online, in person, or by phone to the Dillingham office (907-842-2334).
-Unsuccessful hunters and those who did not hunt must return their completed report cards within 15 days of close of season.

5) Remember
-This permit is not valid if you have already taken a moose this regulatory year.
-You must carry your permit with you while you are hunting.

6) PENALTY FOR FAILURE TO REPORT:
If you fail to report, you will not be eligible to receive any permits (Draw, Tier II, or Registration, including Tier I Nelchina caribou) during the next regulatory year. In addition, your name will be turned over to the Alaska Wildlife Troopers for enforcement action.

Additional Requirements and Information

  • Hunt Area: Unit 17A. Aircraft access is restricted for two miles on either side of Togiak River, Togiak Lake, Izavieknik River, Upper Togiak Lake (Second Lake), Ongivinuk River, and along the lower five miles of both Kemuk (also know as Narogurum) and Nayonurun (also known as Nagugun or Kashalak) Rivers.
  • Hunters who have been transported by aircraft into Unit 17A, may not hunt moose, or transport their moose hunting equipment and/or parts of moose into or through this area. This restriction does not apply to state maintained airports within this area.
