Planning and Management

Proper planning and management of our lands and waters is crucial to assuring the protection of habitats and fish and wildlife populations. While working with various federal, state, local and private land owners and agencies, the Alaska Department of Fish and Game exercises certain regulatory authorities over lands and waters to protect fish and wildlife populations and their habitats.

The department also reviews land plans and land use actions of other agencies, for example the Department of Natural Resources, to ensure that access to fish and wildlife resources, fish and wildlife habitat, and the ability of ADF&G to manage those resources is considered and protected.
