In January 2026, Chris Barger, a regional research biologist with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Wildlife Conservation in Fairbanks, delivered this Strait Science series presentation on hare research in Western Alaska. Strait Science is put on by the University of Alaska's Northwest campus in Nome. Chris provides a research update on the status of the hare population, their movements, and their winter diet.
