Potter Marsh Bird Walks Offer Twice-Weekly Strolls on City’s Wild Side
(ANCHORAGE) – The birds of summer have returned to Southcentral Alaska and so have the Potter Marsh Bird Walks, a twice-weekly series of guided, leisurely strolls along the Potter Marsh boardwalk open to anyone interested in watching and learning to identify area wildlife.
Held through the months of June and July, the walks are free and take place rain or shine on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., and on Tuesdays from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Family-friendly, the Potter Marsh Bird Walks offer viewing opportunities and guidance for fledgling birders exploring new interests and hardcore long-timers seeking life-list sightings. Binoculars are available for loan (no charge) and spotting scopes and guidebooks are also available. The boardwalk is wheelchair accessible.
Join us for the next walk on Tuesday, June 4. Dress for the weather and meet your guide at the Potter Marsh boardwalk entrance kiosk located at Mile 117 along the Seward Highway approximately ½-mile south of the Rabbit Creek Road exit and across from the Rabbit Creek Rifle Range.
