Alaska Board of Fisheries Accepting Proposals for the 2012/2013 Meeting Cycle

(Juneau) – The Alaska Board of Fisheries is accepting proposals for changes in regulations to the subsistence, commercial, personal use, sport, guided sport, and guided sport ecotourism finfish regulations for the Bristol Bay, Arctic-Yukon-Kuskokwim, and Alaska Peninsula/Aleutian Islands management areas. Finfish includes: salmon, herring, trout, groundfish, char, burbot, northern pike, whitefish, Pacific cod, sablefish, shark, pollock, etc., but does not include halibut.

The proposal deadline is 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2012. The public is encouraged to submit proposals online at: http://www.adfg.alaska.gov/index.cfm?adfg=fisheriesboard.proposal. Proposals can also be submitted on proposal forms that are available at the Boards Support Section regional offices and on the website. Currently, we are unable to accept submission of proposals via email. We are working with our information technology section and hope to be able to offer this option soon. Proposals that are not submitted online can be faxed or mailed to:

Proposed regulatory changes must fit within the boards’ Call for Proposals. Proposals received by the deadline will be considered by the Board of Fisheries during the October 2012 through March 2013 meeting schedule. The Call for Proposals and the meeting schedule is available on the Board of Fisheries website at: www.boardoffisheries.adfg.alaska.gov.

Printed proposal books will be available to interested persons in August.
