Alaska Board of Game and Board of Fisheries Hold Meetings to Discuss Board Meeting Schedules

For Immediate Release

The Alaska Board of Game and Board of Fisheries are scheduled to hold a series of meetings in January to discuss current conditions related to COVID-19 and options for scheduling regulatory board meetings for the remainder of the 2020/2021 meeting cycle.

Both boards acted earlier this meeting cycle to postpone their regulatory meetings with the intent to reevaluate the health conditions and further discuss the meetings schedules in early 2021.

Meeting dates, times, and public comment deadlines are as follows:

  • January 19, 2021 at 1:00 p.m.: Special committee meeting of the Board of Game and the Board of Fisheries; comment deadline is Friday, January 15.
  • January 21, 2021 at 9:00 a.m.: Board of Game annual Work Session; comment deadline is Friday, January 15.
  • January 25, 2021 at 1:00 p.m.: Special meeting of the Board of Fisheries; comment deadline January 20, 2021.

The January 19 committee meeting is informational only and no action will be taken. Each board will discuss and take action separately at their January 21 and 25 board meetings. Topics of discussion for the board meetings include:

  • Whether to conduct some or all of the regulatory meetings through web-conferencing,
  • Should meetings be postponed until the 2021/2022 meeting cycle, and
  • If meetings are postponed what are the impacts on the public for the current and future cycles?

To facilitate the boards in their discussions and decision-making process, public comments submitted by the announced deadlines are encouraged. Comments submitted to the boards for consideration at previous board meetings this cycle will be included in the meeting materials and need not be resubmitted. Public comment relevant to the agenda items received on or before this deadline will be posted on the Board's meeting page prior to the meeting.

All meetings will be held via Zoom and open to the public for viewing or listening via the Internet. Meeting material, the audio stream link, and comment submission process is available at the following websites:
