Hunting Conditions

**Permits for this hunt will only be issued if the department identifies areas where numerous moose congregate along the roadside, this usually occurs during heavy snowfall years. The department does not anticipate issuing any permits during most years.**

SEASON: Actual hunt dates will vary based on the time frame you were selected. See your harvest ticket for assigned hunt dates.

HUNT AREA: Hunt areas will be assigned at the time of issuance. Hunt area may be reduced to department management priorities.

LAND OWNERSHIP: This is a limited hunt, much of the area, especially along the roadways is in private ownership. **GET PERMISSION TO HUNT ON PRIVATE LAND!**

BEFORE THE HUNT: Read through your permit and be familiar with the dates and location the permit is good for.

ON THE HUNT: You must wear your "hunt specific" orange vest to identify you as a legal hunter; and carry your hunting license and the signed field portion of the permit with you, and your IBEP certification card if you are hunting with a bow.

All other hunting regulations must be complied with, including do not shoot on from or across the drivable surface of the road. Hunters should expect that DPS Wildlife Troopers and DFG Peace Officers will be conducting spot checks to ensure hunters are complying with permit conditions and are conducting themselves in a safe, ethical, and legal manner.

Hunt conditions and season dates can be changed by Emergency Order. Visit the Emergency Orders and Announcements page for more information.
