Walrus Tracking Maps Archive

Over the last ten days we received transmissions from 21 walruses (3 male and 18 female). The three males are located in coastal waters both north of the coast of Russia and between Wainwright and Barrow. Eleven of the females are located near Hanna Shoal in the Chukchi Sea. Clouds in the southern Beaufort Sea have again obstructed MODIS satellite images over the last week. Therefore, we plotted the walrus tracks over sea ice concentration data available from the National Ice Center (http://www.natice.noaa.gov/).
