2021 Chignik Salmon Fishery
Disaster Relief Applications Open

On May 9, 2023, the U.S. Secretary of Commerce made a disaster determination for the Alaska Chignik Salmon Fishery, 2021, under the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act in response to a November 15, 2021, request from Governor Dunleavy. NOAA Fisheries allocated $4,989,902 to address losses to the affected management areas. The State of Alaska, in consultation with stakeholders and NOAA's National Marine Fisheries Service, drafted a spend plan and forwarded that plan to the Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission (PSMFC), the administrator of the federal grant for disaster funds.

PSMFC opened the application period for permit holders and crew members in August 2025. Notifications with a weblink to the application portal, unique 8-digit ID, and more information were mailed to eligible permit holders. Applications must be submitted through PSMFC's online portal by November 24, 2025 for permit holders and December 23, 2025 for crew members.
