What is in this report?
This report includes purchasing data reflecting the exvessel value, or the value of the "first purchase of raw fish". Exvessel value data are generated by the Commercial Fisheries Entry Commission (CFEC). Landings data published in this report reflects harvest information attributed to state managed fisheries, federally managed fisheries, hatchery harvest, and Annette Island fisheries. All harvest information was recorded on an ADF&G fish ticket.
What is not in this report?
This report does not include forfeited catch (bycatch overage), seized harvest, discards, donated fish, decomposed or infested catch, fish retained for bait, harvest retained for personal use, harvest attributed to test fisheries, or commercial sale of derby fish.
What data are confidential?
To protect confidentiality these data are aggregated to the level of 3 entities per row in compliance with ADF&G confidentiality guidelines. For Fish Ticket data, entities are determined by the unique permits (permit count), processors (processor count) and vessel (vessel count).
For questions concerning these data please email dfg.dcf.datarequest@alaska.gov
What do these fields mean?
- Year — The year the landings occurred as recorded on ADF&G fish tickets.
- Number of Fish (estimated) — Number of animals is a count of each species in the catch or harvest. While not required, most salmon fish tickets record the number of fish harvested as well as the pounds. This field is estimated by processors and may not reflect the actual number of fish harvested.
- Landed Weight (lbs) — The weight in pounds of the fish in the condition that they were landed and weighed at the dock/processing facility. The landed weight is often referred to as the scale weight.
- Estimated Exvessel Value (nominal) — The exvessel value as estimated by the Commercial Fisheries Entry Commission (CFEC). Estimates are generated on an area/species/gear basis. Inputs for this process include any available Commercial Operator's Annual Report (COAR) Buying data, prices recorded on fish tickets, and other available pricing information. This estimate has not been adjusted for inflation.
