Steelhead


Description

Anglers seeking steelhead may want to try the Naha River Drainage, McDonald Lake or Fish Creek. All three systems have USFS cabins and are accessible by floatplane or boat (Naha and Fish Creek). The peak time to target spring steelhead is mid-April through May. Drift fishing with spinning or bait casting tackle and fly fishing are both effective. Steelhead in these systems are catch and release only, all steelhead caught must be released immediately. Gear is limited to unbaited artificial lures or flies.
