ADF&G Biologist Lost in Tragic Plane Crash

July 25, 2025 (Dillingham) — The Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G) is deeply saddened by the loss of Area Wildlife Biologist John Landsiedel in a recent off-duty plane crash. John was an enthusiastic and dedicated employee who engaged in wildlife management activities that were logistically, physically, and emotionally challenging to a level that most people will never experience in their careers. He was loved by both his colleagues and his community and will be sorely missed.

"There are no words to describe the impact this has on his family, friends, and ADF&G with the loss of one of our own," said Commissioner Doug Vincent-Lang. "Our deepest condolences are with John's family and loved ones.";
