Week of June 22 to June 28

Fresh waters

King Salmon

Naknek and Alagnak drainages:

  • Sport fishing is currently reported as fair. However, sport fishing is improving and will likely be more productive later this week.

Nushagak drainages.

  • Sport fishing is currently reported as fair to very good.
  • The sonar near Portage Creek is operational and 28,364 kings have been counted by the sonar through June 21. This is approximately 1 1/2 days ahead of desired levels. Management will be in accordance with the Nushagak/Mulchatna King Salmon Management Plan. Anglers should call (907) 842-2427 for regulatory updates.

Togiak River and nearby drainages:

  • It is still early for kings in the Togiak, although sport fishing should improve throughout this week.

Rainbow Trout, Dolly Varden, Arctic Grayling

Naknek and Alagnak drainages:

  • Fishing is reported as good to very good for rainbow trout and Dolly Varden as they continue to feed on out-migrating sockeye salmon smolt.

Togiak River and nearby drainages:

  • Sport fishing for Dolly Varden, rainbow trout, and Arctic grayling should be good.

Wood River Lakes system:

  • Fishing should be good to excellent at the outlets of salmon spawning streams as smolt continue to migrate down river.

Northern Pike

Naknek and Alagnak drainages:

  • Fishing is reported as fair to good.

Wood River Lake system:

  • Fishing is reportedly good along lake and slough shores and in shallow weedy bays.

Salt waters

Halibut

Nushagak Bay

  • Fishing should be fair to good off the coast of Protection Point.
