Archived Sport Fishing Report

October 05, 2015

As we head into the late fall and winter months, our fishing reports will be at a minimum until spring time. However, there are still angling opportunities out there now and a few all winter long. Although most salmon species have wrapped up for the year, anglers can still chase king salmon all winter long as weather allows.

Depending on seasonal temperatures, most large low level lakes can remain ice free through winter and will offer opportunities to fish for cutthroat and rainbow trout as well as Dolly Varden. There are also several streams in the Ketchikan area that contain fall steelhead runs and fish will continue to trickle in throughout the winter months. Anglers wanting to chase fall steelhead should try Ward Creek on the road system, or if remote is your game, give Fish Creek or the Naha River drainage a try.

***Reminder
All anglers are responsible for knowing the current regulations for the area that they will be fishing. Regulation handbooks and copies of the most current regulatory changes are available on this website and at the Ketchikan ADF&G office, (907) 225-2859
