Saltwater Fishing
- The king salmon peak has passed, though a few kings are still being picked up in the area. Historically catch rates will continue to decline through summer.
- The Ketchikan Sport Terminal Harvest Area will close on Friday, July 31. King salmon bag and possession limits in this area will revert back to regionwide king salmon regulations.
- Coho catch rates are increasing in the area and will continue to build over the next few weeks. Catch rates for both pink and chum salmon are picking up and should continue to improve through August. Within the next few weeks anglers will find good marine shoreline angling throughout the Ketchikan area for both pink and coho salmon.
- Halibut fishing in the area has been good and is expected to remain strong throughout summer.
- Anglers interested in checking out some historical harvest timing should click on the Marine Harvest Rates tab above.
Freshwater Fishing
- Cutthroat and Rainbow trout fishing will continue to be productive over the summer months. Roadside anglers should try Ward Creek, Carlanna, Harriet Hunt and Talbot lakes. If remote fishing is on your agenda, give the Naha River or McDonald Lake drainage a try.
