Saltwater Fishing
Marine effort continues to be high with good weather and good catches. King salmon fishing has been good and probably peaked this last week. There is a fair number of fish currently returning to the Whitman Lake Hatchery in Herring Cove on the south end and will continue to be strong over the next week or two.

Anglers are reminded that there have been several news releases issued regarding king salmon limits for the region and the Ketchikan area. These can be accessed by the links on this page.

Pinks, chums and coho are all showing up in the marine catches now and will continue to build thru the summer. Decent catches have been report both north and south of town.

Halibut catches have also been good and should remain thru the summer season.

Freshwater Fishing
Cutthroat and Rainbow trout fishing will continue to be productive over the summer months. Roadside anglers should give the Ward Lake, Harriet Hunt Lake, Talbot and Carlanna Lakes a try. If remote fishing is on your agenda, give the Naha or McDonald lake drainages a try.

Dolly Varden fishing along the roadside/shoreline should continue to produce catches. Lake outlets and streams that connect to the salt water are prime places to harvest these fish in the spring.

***Reminder
All anglers are responsible for knowing the current regulations for the area that they will be fishing. Regulation handbooks and copies of the most current regulatory changes are available on this website and at the Ketchikan ADF&G office, (907) 225-2859.
